Description

The current global challenges – for example world climate or world peace – make it clear that fundamental ecological, economic and social change is urgently needed. The active shaping of such a transformation requires actors with a pronounced readiness for analytical-critical engagement and for the ethical assumption of responsibility in the sense of a transformative understanding of talent. This requires not only person-oriented expertise but also action oriented towards the common good, which is already evident in young people who are committed to shaping a sustainable future in the sense of the Sustainable Development Goals. Biographies of young people such as Greta Thunberg or Felix Finkbeiner retrospectively illustrate the role of the educational and social context. The basis for this are innovative learning environments that integrate the different areas of potential and address the learner in the individual, educational and social context: on the one hand, to realise a sustainable shaping of society's future through the potentials that have been developed (sustainable potential development from a prospective perspective); on the other hand, to further develop and differentiate individual potentials through public welfare-oriented action in society (retrospective research perspective on sustainable potential development). The research network "Sustainable Development of Potential" takes this up in the Topical Programs in the sense of the excellence strategy at the University of Münster.
