Description

In this project, we aim at a novel multimodal imaging approach using BODIPY-based nanostructures to investigate endothelial permeability upon inflammatory stimuli in vivo. The tuneable size (ranging from few nanometers to several micrometers) and shape (spherical, 1D, 2D) of the nanostructures will allow for a quantitative assessment of endothelial barrier function using the entire range of multiscale imaging modalities applied in this CRC. We will evaluate our BODIPY-based approach in inflammatory pathologies associated with changes in endothelial permeability such as ischemia-reperfusion (I/R; heart, kidney) and sepsis.
