CRC 858 B09 - Cooperative Effects in Metal-Modified DNA

Basic data for this project

Type of projectSubproject in DFG-joint project hosted at University of Münster
Duration at the University of Münster01/01/2018 - 31/12/2021 | 3rd Funding period

Description

The project investigates various cooperative effects related to metal-modified DNA. In particular, the formation of polynuclear metal-mediated base pairs will be studied, as this may principally proceed in a cooperative, non-cooperative or anti-cooperative manner. Moreover, metal-mediated base pairs involving ambident ligands will be investigated to verify their preferred coordination geometry and to determine how their formation influences the cooperativity of the DNA melting process. Finally, planar metal complexes will be developed that selectively recognize guanine quadruplex structures. Here, the cooperativity of the ligands in determining the quadruplex affinity and selectivity of the respective complex will be evaluated.
