Abstract

This article outlines a learning environment for multilingual learners at a German school abroad in Ecuador, which uses multilingualism as a resource to give children learning opportunities in mathematics lessons. To generate authentical learning opportunities, learners from Ecuador are recording explanation videos for German students in North-Rhine-Westphalia. While the learners describe and explain their discoveries in a language of their choice, well-founded mathematical learning could take place as well as language learning.
