Abstract

By the example of Judith van Istendael’s De maagd en de neger (2007) in this article we explore from an interdisciplinary literary point of view the involvement of graphic novels in foreign language education as a way of integrating reading and multimedia skills and of introducing complex socio-cultural phenomena in the classroom through emotional and cognitive empathic engagement.
