CRC 656 C06 - Multiparametric imaging of vascular pathologies (SFB 656 C06)

Basic data for this project

Type of projectSubproject in DFG-joint project hosted at University of Münster
Duration at the University of Münster01/07/2009 - 30/06/2017 | 2nd Funding period

Description

Vascular integrity warranting blood supply to organs is of crucial importance, especially in the case of the heart or brain. Most of the vascular pathologies and the majority of cardiovascular events arise from atherosclerosis being characterized by typical inflammatory induced degenerative processes in the vessel wall. With these processes angiogenesis, the formation of new vessels is occurring itself in the atherosclerotic vessel wall. Basis of the project is the use of imaging methodology within the SFB to multiparametrically characterize vascular lesions and angiogenesis in atherosclerosis.
