CRC 1009 B08 - DAMP-induced proinflammatory feedback mechanisms between phagocytes and endothelial / epithelial barriers in infectious diseases

Basic data for this project

Type of projectSubproject in DFG-joint project hosted at University of Münster
Duration at the University of Münster01/07/2016 - 30/06/2020 | 2nd Funding period

Description

Pulmonary infectious diseases are often amplified by mechanisms induced by endogenous ligands (DAMPs). The interplay of DAMPs and PAMPs lead to the breakdown of endothelial and epithelial lung barriers and overwhelming immune responses causing severe complications in clinical practice. Goal of the follow-up research project B08 is to further elucidate the S100A8/A9-TLR4/MD2-DAMP mechanism and the implications for the lung epithelial barrier for the development of new therapeutic options against pulmonary diseases.
