Our project deals with the impact of specific dietary modifications on CNS autoimmunity, with a special focus on the link between bioactive nutrients, the gut microbiome, modulation of intestinal immune responses and the consequences for CNS autoimmunity. Part 1 deals with protective effects via dietary supplementation of conjugated linoleic acid. Part 2 investigates protective effects of a wheat/ATI-free diet. In part 3, we will perform first proof-of-concept studies in RRMS patients to evaluate the immune-modulatory effects of dietary CLA supplementation and a wheat/ATI-free diet in addition to standard treatment.
