Based on the successful introduction of the EESSI procedure, the task of the given study is to identify further digitalization potentials in the field of Social Security in Germany. These potentials are identified on the basis of semi-structured interviews with experts familiar with both the EESSI procedure and general topics of digitalization in German Social Security systems. During the course of the study, both regional and national Social Security organizations have been consulted in order to derive a broad picture of current developments and challenges in the field of digitalization. To address these challenges, digitalization potentials have been identified that ensure benefits for both citizens and employees of Social Security agencies. These digitalization potentials show initial pathways that can be considered in the context of a future transformation of Social Security Systems.
