Description

Project B02 is focusing on the development and investigation of novel on-surface reactions with the goal to extend the “reaction toolbox” for on-surface synthesis by including other functional groups that have not been investigated in this emerging and highly active research field so far. We will then use the novel reactions discovered for the on-surface construction of various conjugated -systems. As a long term goal, we address the preparation of graphdiyne over a large surface area. All structures prepared will be investigated by state of the art analytical techniques and we will also start using non-contact AFM analysis with atomic resolution for product structure determination. Moreover, high level DFT calculations will be applied to understand and explain on surface reactivity.
