Description

The project aims at the preparation of heterobimetallic complexes based on a di-, tri- or poly-NHC skeleton and the use of such complexes in cooperative catalytic transformations. The heterobimetallic complexes will be prepared by linkage of mononuclear complexes bearing differently N-functionalized (azide and alkyne or diene and dienophile) NHC ligands. Alternatively, the site-selective metalation of di-NHC precursors composed of a neutral C2halogeno substituted imidazole linked to an azolium building block using the oxidative addition of the C2X bond of the azole and the deprotonation/metalation reaction of the azolium site will be employed. Suitable metal combinations are Cu/Ag for the cooperative alkynylation of trifluoromethyl ketones and Ru/Pd for the hydrodefluorination of CF bonds.
