The replication of previously published findings using the same data (reproduction) or different data (replication) has gained considerable attention across disciplines. Lower-than-expected success rate in replication attempts have led to methodological reforms and demands for more replication research. At the same time, traditional journals are hesitant or selective in publishing replication studies, deepening the bias in published research. Together with an international network of experts on open science, open access publishing, and replication research, the Münster Center for Open Science (MüCOS) and the Framework for Open and Reproducible Research Training (FORRT) are creating a Diamond Open Access journal for replications, reproductions, and interdisciplinary methodological discussions. The journal Replication Research will have a strong emphasis on transparency and openness, implementing open peer review, standardized reproducibility checks, and requiring FAIR data and open materials and code. As part of the Topical Program, we will organize an open Symposium in May 2025 where interested participants and the network will discuss the role of replication studies in different fields and the journal’s scope.
