About the distinction
Prof. Dr. Armido Studer erhielt den mit 30.000 Euro dotierten Forschungspreis für exzellente und international anerkannte Leistungen. Der in der Schweiz geborene Experte der sogenannten Radikalchemie lehrt und forscht seit 2004 am Organisch-Chemischen Institut der WWU und gehört zu den weltweit führenden Wissenschaftlern auf diesem Gebiet. Armido Studer gelang es wie keinem anderen, die synthetische Radikalchemie im Bereich der Materialwissenschaften zu etablieren. Die interdisziplinäre Kompetenz Armido Studers trug darüber hinaus unter anderem Früchte bei zahlreichen nationalen wie internationalen Wissenschaftsverbünden, die sich mit Grundlagenforschung und anwendungsbezogenen Experimenten beschäftigen.
About the award
The Research Prize, awarded every two years, distinguishes an outstanding researcher whose work has enhanced the reputation of the University of Münster. The 30,000-euro prize serves to support the winner's continued research activities and may also be used to finance an international colloquium in Münster on a topic in the prizewinner's research area. The prize is only awarded to an academic member of the University. One's lifetime academic achievement is not the deciding factor here, but rather excellent, internationally recognised, and current achievement in research. The finalist is selected by the Rectorate on the recommendation of a jury specially appointed for this purpose.
