Description
The habilitation summarizes the results of a five-year research on the transformation of academic subjectivation. As the research on university transformation shows, universities are subject to constant organizational and institutional changes worldwide, which are intended to contribute to higher competitiveness, excellent teaching and research, and global prestige. Following this tendency, the basic understanding and ethos of academic subjectivation are changing: academics must increasingly navigate between the high demands of performance and the fragility of the academic profession. In this context, the habilitation deals with the transformation of academic subjectivity and problematizes the interrelationship between the university as an increasingly fragile place of work and life and the tension between performance claims and fears of existence in which the academics follow their profession.
