The Arabic manuscript translations of the Byzantine Typikon

The disseration is about the Christian people of Chalcedonian confession, who lived in the patriarchates of Antioch, Alexandria and Jerusalem and who were cut off from the Byzantine Empire after the Islamic conquests and so lost the support of the emperor. These Christians soon translated their rites bit by bit into Arabic as well as adapted their rites to the Byzantine Rite to emphasize the own Orthodox identity against the other Christian communities in the same region (Syrian-Orthodox, Copts, Maronites,...). The dissertation is based on a comparison of different manuscripts of different age oft he Typicon oft he Byzantine Rite to figure out, how the process of Arabization developed and how this process was connected tot he process of Byzantinization.
