Description

Through ethnographic exploration, I construct a theory on the role of documents in migration regimes based on my data and hence combine historically closely linked methodologies of grounded theory and ethnography (Unterkofler 2016: 291). In doing so, I follow the document in the sense of a multi-sited ethnography because “only in the synopsis of different sites does the object of knowledge [gain] its contour” (Jaeger/Nieswand 2022: 480, translation K.H.).
