The aim is to analyze scalar curvature by means of minimal hypersurfaces. This had been pioneered by Schoen and Yau in the late seventies but then the development was partially stuck in analytic problems that occur if one tries to extend and deepen the results already in dimensions > 3 and even more seriously in dim > 8. Very recently our group set up a geometric machinery to extend the methods to arbitrary dimensions. We want to further exploit and refine these new techniques.
