Abstract

KeywordsPostmodern situation of Christianity: individualisation, globalisation, pluralisation, de-differentiation and hybridisation. Order of functional differentiation: churches as public viewing or meeting rooms, number of weekly visitors considerably exceeds Sunday worship participants (Sigrist). Church buildings as museum sites with an inviting character in aesthetic, cultural, but also touristic framings (Schroer). Religious practices are exercised in public places outside church buildings - such as museums and concert halls (Schroer, Bräunlein).
