Abstract
Since the 1990s Open Access has developed into a complex publication practice. Libraries were not directly involved at the beginning, but today they are “right in the middel of it” and very active. This presentation, held as part of the online lecture series “Open Access – Developments, Challenges, and Opportunities” at the Centre for Book Studies at LMU Munich on 23.6.2025, gives an overview of the numerous aspects that Open Access entails for an academic library from the perspective of the University and State Library Münster.Keywords: Open Access, libraries, academic libraries, publication services, research support
