Abstract

These proceedings present selected research papers from the international conference Language and Power held at the University of Münster in March 2023. In particular, the authors engage in a critical discussion of the following questions: 1. How can language practices establish gender equality or postulate the prevalence of a certain gender? 2. How do language-related power structures affect racial, ethnic, sexual or religious minorities? 3. In what way is the government's political discourse reflected in educational institutions? 4. How do the media employ discursive strategies to pursue their agenda? 5. How can linguistic traditions and language policies affect the development of nations in post-colonial settings?
