Abstract

Postoperative bleeding puts the patient at significant rise: Hypovolemia may cause hemodynamic instability, and transfusion of blood components bears additional specific rises, Massive bleeding, or in case of a pericardiac tamponade even small amounts of blood lost may call for operative revision. Therefore, the therapeutic goal is to minimize perioperative blood loss, Besides optimization of hemostasis, postoperative autotransfusion of shed blood as well as administration of antifibrinolytics and I or desmopressin are recommended.
