Abstract

Three years after the so-called Arab Spring, the old authoritarian political system seems to have been restored in Egypt. In this paper, particular regard will be paid to the role of ‘non-Islamists’ in this process. On a theoretical level, a process-sociological model of democracy will be introduced, which includes – in addition to the institutional dimension of processes of democratisation and de-democratisation – also the habitual dimension of such processes.
