Abstract

Carbon-coated V 2O 5 nanocrystals were prepared by using porous carbon as a hard template through a capillary-induction approach. The nanocrystal material exhibits markedly enhanced lithium discharge and charge capacities, excellent rate capability, and cycling stability. The unprecedented electrochemical performance makes the carbon-coated nanocrystalline V 2O 5 a very promising cathode material for lithium ion batteries. © 2011 American Chemical Society.
