SPP 1374 - Subproject: Land-use effects on plant-herbivore stoichiometry: micro- and macronutrients (STOICHIO)

Basic data for this project

Type of projectSubproject in DFG-joint project hosted outside University of Münster
Duration at the University of Münster15/05/2014 - 14/05/2017 | 1st Funding period

Description

STOICHIO - being part of the DFG funded research project Biodiversity Exploratories which aims at assessing the impact of land use on different components of biodiversity in three study sites in Germany - focusses the quantitative and qualitative evaluation of nutrients, their regulation within and the transfer between species and their environment (Ecological stoichiometry). This project concentrates on understanding regulatory mechanisms of stoichiometry from soil to vegetation and whole herbivore communities along a land use gradient. To comprehend species distribution patterns, biodiversity and ecosystem dynamics, STOICHIO aims at clarifying how stoichiometric variation contributes to performance and hierarchy of species in communities and to assess how species respond stoichiometrically to fertilization and change in overall community composition with land use.
