Description

The project studies roles and messages of symbols and rituals in court proceedings of Early Modern Times, including earlier and subsequent developments. Particular attention is paid to the constitution of judicial "spaces" and the legitimation of the protagonists, as well as to the symbolic conveyance of the change in values in the collision between a mainly oral legal culture and the ideas of a developing "learned" legal profession.
