The use of nano-containers, zeolites L, filled with appropriate molecules for the construction of assemblies that could lead to novel photonic effects or electroluminescent materials is described. Through a stepwise approach, we show how the nanomaterials can be assembled in a controllable fashion and the filling or the use of stopper molecules containing desired functionalities can be addressed with different inputs. Electrical conductivity will be investigated as well as charge injection and recombination inside or at the channel entrance of the zeolites. Finally, we will address different strategies for the construction of proof-ofprinciple devices to understand the behaviour of the nanocontainers in different configurations.
