Description

Motivation Undoubtedly, traditional print media are increasingly being substituted by digital media. While digital newspapers are available for all major papers, in particular scientific textbooks do not yet make use of this potential. On our way to a fully digital future an interim medium is missing. Aim Aim of this project is to develop such an interim medium which allows for sustainable learning. Our focus is on developing an e-learning solution for scientific textbooks, which enables students to apply their analogous practices in a digital book. Furthermore, opportunities to enhance digital book are being explored. Also, other important players in the e-book market such as Apple and German textbook publishers explore this area. However, their focus is on schoolbooks rather than on textbooks for universities. Furthermore, most of these solutions - first and foremost those of Apple - are strongly platform dependent. Publicity We presented this project on Informare and Buchtagen in Berlin were we received approval. In course of this a radio report was broadcasted by Deutschlandfunk (in German). Also in German a video demonstration and a poster are available.
