The goal of the Project science journalism in the internet was to identify a demand of further education in that area. The results of the study were delivered to the initiative science journalism at the TU Dortmund to allow them to design tailored education offerings. In three research contexts science journalism in the Internet was empirically investigated: first, the impact on the occupational field of field of science journalism in the internet compared to the occupational field traditional mass media was investigated. Second, it was explored, what the special quality of science journalism in the internet is. This should clarify what the potential for improvements of the offers during the phase of investigation is. Third was examined what the requirements regarding the quality for science journalists in the internet are. In addition, information about "best practices" for science journalism in the internet was collected. During this study, 30 telephone interviews with editorial directors, editors, and freelance journalists were held.
