Description

Important developments were the interpretation of topological K-theory and the Baum-Connes assembly map via derived functors on triangulated categories due to Ralf Meyer and Ryszard Nest, and the geometrtic interpretations of the Dirac-dual-Dirac method due to Ralf Meyer and Heath Emerson. There was a successful collaboration between Siegfried Echterhoff from E2 and Wolfgang Lück (B4), together with the external collaborators Chris Phillips (University of Oregon) and Samual Walters (University of Northern British Columbia) on the structure of noncommutative spheres which arise as crossed products of irrational rotation algebras by finite groups.
