The success of the FOR depends to a great part on the generation of synergy effects such ascollaborative research activities, knowledge transfer, training, and the exchange of data andunpublished information. In particular, we are requesting funds for early career support activities (training workshops and young investigator meeting), a laboratory visiting program, gender equality measures, a half a secretary position for administrative tasks required for the coordination of the FOR. Funds for publication and travel costs will be centrally distributed to ensure that this money is efficiently used for FOR-related purposes. To better integrate the different laboratories of the FOR and get stimulating input, we will have an annual joint retreat involving invited external speakers. The sum of these central activities will be greatly beneficial for all members of the FOR and, in particular, will help to support young and female scientists.
