The research project was carried out in cooperation with EAVI (European Association for Viewers Interests). It was commissioned and financially supported by the European Commission. The ITM worked on this project together with cooperation partners from Belgium, France, Great Britain, Italy and Spain. They aimed to represent the interests of European television viewers and to enforce their rights on the European scale. The ITM analysed several devices to promote and appeal television viewers' interests in terms of identifying the most successful and well-proven ones in all European countries. There was a huge need for action in a couple of European countries regarding their democratic participation in broadcasting services especially because of the EU-enlargement on 1 May 2004. All those aims were primarily focused on the application of New Media.
