Fog plays an important role in atmospheric boundary layer and deposition processes. It is proposed to conduct two field campaigns at the NTU Xitou Experimental Forest site, at the western slopes of the central Taiwan mountain range. Fog is frequent there, although there are indications of decreasing fog frequency. Landuse change and climate change affect the site strongly with tourism being one of the driving forces. It is propose to study the deposition of fog by unsing the eddy covariance method, study the dynamics of the boundary layer and the forest vegetation. A rather complete picture can be drawn about the conditions under which fog occurs and what the influence on thy hydrological conditions and the deposition of pollutants will be. The project is perfectly suited to support emerging scientists from both Taiwan and Germany and to contribute to exchange of skills and ideas.
