Preparing to respond to future pandemics The effects of the COVID-19 pandemic signal the need to build better preparedness for future threats. The EU-funded ORCHESTRA project provides an innovative method to study the pandemic and deliver recommendations for future health crises. Specifically, it will establish a new EU-wide cohort based on existing and new large-scale population cohorts in the EU and non-European countries. ORCHESTRA will perform data analysis through a federated learning technique enhanced by pioneering modelling capabilities to integrate epidemiological, clinical, microbiological and genotypic aspects of population-based cohorts with environmental and socioeconomic elements. The project includes infected and non-infected individuals of all ages and conditions, focusing on at-risk populations of vulnerable individuals and healthcare workers.
