Transformation labels in climate finance (ClimLabels) - Subproject 2: Laboratory experiments (Climlabels)

Basic data for this project

Type of projectParticipation in federally funded joint project
Duration at the University of Münster01/09/2022 - 31/08/2025

Description

This project aims to accelerate and support the development of transition labels: Under which circumstances is a company seriously investing in the green transition? How should this information be provided to retail investors, professionals, and fund managers? To answer these questions, this project proposes to analyze existing variables that capture a forward-looking perspective such as green capital expenditure, the setting of science-based climate targets or low-carbon management score indicators regarding their explanatory power. Based on this analysis, we will, jointly with finance professionals, reflect these indicators in the design of financial climate transition products (most notably, transition funds), satisfying all requirements of fund managers and practitioners more broadly. By means of laboratory, field, and survey experiments with students, the general population, and financial professionals, we will then go on to test which factors influence decision-makers’ interest in a transition perspective on sustainable financial products.
