This project studies how the sterol-sensing domain (SSD)-containing membrane protein Disp aids Hedgehog (Hh) transport, sorting, or assembly into signaling hubs on the cell surface. We will determine subcellular sites of Disp activity and its possible direct interaction with authentic Hh by using clickable chemical reporters and proximity ligation in conjunction with high-resolution microscopy.
