CRC 1450 - A03: Targeting of S100A8/A9 for imaging of inflammatory disorders

Basic data for this project

Type of projectSubproject in DFG-joint project hosted at University of Münster
Duration at the University of Münster01/01/2021 - 31/12/2024 | 1st Funding period

Description

Activated monocytes and granulocytes are key to inflammatory diseases and release the alarmin S100A8/A9 in high concentrations, triggering sterile as well as infectious inflammatory processes via TLR-4. In the proposed project we will establish a specific S100A8/A9 tracer combining X-ray structure analysis and chemical synthesis. The tracer core will be linked to different labels suited for PET, SPECT, fluorescent or photoacoustic imaging techniques. In summary, we will create a new toolset to monitor the onset of inflammatory responses, the spatio-temporal location and resolution of inflammation in the context of the whole organism.
