CRC 1009 intends to strengthen the scientific knowledge of young medical researchers. Therefore, innovative training programs in for medical students/clinician scientists were included in this project which provide a structured support of medical researchers in CRC 1009 at early carrier stages: 1) The Junior class Experimental Medicine for medical students, followed by an accredited 'MSc. Experimental Medicine'. 2) The MedK-program supporting medical students undertaking an experimental MD thesis project with a structured research training network. 3) The clinican-scientist programme qualifying for a PhD (Dr. rer. nat.).
