Children's and youth sports are among the most frequent and most important activities in the lives of young people. Nevertheless, it faces challenges with regard to fundamental changes in school and society. Demographic change and social inequality, new family structures and inclusion, all-day school and the compression of the school day, and much more, contribute to the fact that the offers of children's and youth sports have already experienced massive changes. Current research only reflects this change to a very limited extent. The research association will focus on this desideratum and systematically promote research in children's and youth sports. Special attention will be paid to the dialogue between science and society. The Research Association for Children and Youth Sports North Rhine-Westphalia is an inter-university research association with administrative affiliation to the Institute for Sports Science of the University of Münster (administrative office) and essentially pursues four goals: bundling of nationwide efforts in research in children's and youth sports, development of a continuous reporting system for children and youth sports initiation and support of research projects on research in children's and youth sports, and promoting dialogue between research and society, in particular between science, practice and politics.
