The scientific results of the project are based on interdisciplinary interaction of its coworkers. The framework for this fruitful research is the IRTG. It was established to guarantee the high level of education and training that is necessary for tackling challenging scientific questions. On the other hand, the instruments of the IRTG allow its members to benefit from the opportunities implemented within the curriculum and adjusted to their needs. Three functions of the IRTG have been determined: 1. being a forum for scientific exchange and communication, 2. being a recruitment platform in order to be attractive for national and international highly qualified young scientists, 3. strengthening personality and soft skills of the young scientists. For this purpose, the elements of the curriculum include the students’ seminar, soft-skill seminars, a lecture series and workshops. Along with these curricular elements, the SFB 858 has to developed seminars on good scientific practice, equal opportunities and vocational measures (as a result of the results obtained in one of the projects) during the second funding period, which shall be installed as regular recurring elements within the third funding period.
