Urban air pollution is becoming one of the most pressing issues in urban regions worldwide. In these areas, where the population is especially dense, the air quality is often bad with high concentrations of nitrogen oxides and ultrafine particles. The air pollution is not only affecting regional climate, but leads also to increased morbidity and mortality rates among the exposed population. Recent measurements of air pollutants are often on a monthly or daily scale and do not reflect the high variability of the emissions and concentrations of air pollutants. This project aims at resolving urban air quality on a much higher temporal scale to examine the effect of different vehicle characteristics on the emissions.
