Basic data for this project

Description

This project develops explications of the concepts of function and of fitness so that both concepts are applicable in the new explanatory context of an individualised niche. It analyses the explanatory roles of the two concepts in theories of niche choice, niche conformance, and niche construction, with a particular interest in cases of individualised niches. Moreover, it surveys how particular explanatory goals are reflected in the use of these concepts in the empirical projects of the CRC, and compares the findings with the analytical results.
