About the distinction
As winner of the challenge the idea behind the tool "One-Click-Reproduce" of Edzer Pebesma is awarded. Reproducibility is the foundation upon which the credibility of geoscientific research is based, and researchers face an increasing need to share the input data, data created, and analysis steps along with published papers, in order to allow readers to reproduce their analysis. The One-Click-Reproduce application aims to make reproducing research simple, using the open source R software (http://www.r-project.org) environment. William Gunn, Head of Academic Outreach for Mendeley and judge member for EPIC said of the winning idea “It solves a real problem, adds value to articles, and the path to implementation would seem straightforward.”
