About the award

The GIGLIOLA GORI AWARD is awarded for an unpublished essay of outstanding quality in the field of sport history. Eligible scholars must be a registered student (undergraduate or graduate) at the time of the Congress or Seminar or within one year of receiving a having graduated from a program of higher education. The essay must be submitted in ENGLISH and the text itself (including notes and bibliography) must not exceed 6,000 words. The main criteria for selection will be based on originality, the scientific quality of the research and the value of the study from the perspective of international sport history. From 1998 until 2003 the ISHPES Early Career Scholar award was known as the REINHARD SPRENGER Young Scholar award, to recognize his support of the prize. From 2005 until 2009 the award was known as the ISHPES Young Scholar award. In 2010 the award was renamed the GIGLIOLA GORI Junior Scholar award to recognize her support of the prize.
