Den „ESA Dräger Prize in Anaesthesia and Intensive Care Medicine“ vergab die die Europäische Gesellschaft für Anästhesiologie (ESA) 2012 an die Arbeitsgruppe um Privatdozent Dr. Alexander Zarbock, Klinik für Anästhesiologie, operative Intensivmedizin und Schmerztherapie am Universitätsklinikum Münster und Max-Planck-Institut für molekulare Biomedizin, Münster. Die Wissenschaftler hatten ein körpereigenes Protein identifiziert, das für die Reparaturarbeiten am Herzen nach Herzinfarkt unentbehrlich ist.

About the award

The prize is for a clinical or a laboratory peer-reviewed publication of significant clinical relevance on an intensive care topic published in the previous calendar year, e.g. award in 2013 for a paper published in 2012.
