About the award
Bergman’s contributions concerned, to a great extent, analytical chemistry. It was therefore natural for the Analytical Division of the Swedish Chemical Society to honour him by instituting the Torbern Bergman Medal in 1967, on the 200th anniversary of his appointment to the chair of chemistry at Uppsala University.
