About the distinction
Die Arbeitsgruppe von Harald Fuchs führte Grundlagenforschungsprojekte in Kooperation mit führenden Instituten der chinesischen Akademie der Wissenschaften (CAS, Physik und Chemie) sowie der Tsinghua-Universität und dem Nationalen Institut für Nanowissenschaften und Technologie (NCNST) in Peking durch. Das Land Nordrhein-Westfalen, die Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) und das Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung (BMBF) unterstützen die Projekte. Eine Besonderheit war der erste deutsch-chinesische Sonderforschungsbereich TRR/SFB 61 („Multilevel-molekulare Assemblate: Struktur, Dynamik und Funktion“), der von 2008 bis 2017 gemeinsam von der DFG und der Partnereinrichtung in China, der National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), gefördert wurde. Darüber hinaus ist der Physiker Gründungsmitglied eines internationalen Forschungsinstitutes für Nanowissenschaften in Nanjing.
