About the award
In recognition of outstanding performance on the part of TUM's teaching staff, the Ernst Otto Fischer (EOF) Award for Excellence in Teaching is presented annually to up to three innovative educational projects that have been successfully implemented at TUM. Casting a spotlight on fresh new educational approaches that have contributed to heightening the visibility of TUM's academic profile, the Ernst Otto Fischer Award is conferred once per year to up to three lecturers or teaching teams that have succeeded in implementing original projects aiming to advance and refine the educational methodologies employed at TUM. The Ernst Otto Fischer Award is not endowed with a monetary prize; rather, it showcases effective instructional innovations by means of various internal and public platforms and by conferring certificates of honor to the awardees. Applications for the Ernst Otto Fischer Award are open to individual members of TUM teaching staff as well as teaching teams. All teaching projects sponsored by the TUM Teaching Endowment Fund that have been successfully completed and for which final reports have been submitted are eligible for the annual selection procedure. Additionally, teaching staff members who have developed educational innovations on their own, by means of projects not subsidized by the TUM Teaching Endowment Fund, also qualify for this award. In this case, applications must include a project description as well as an implementation and evaluation report.
