Die Stiftung fördert die Teilnahme von bis zu 50 hochqualifizierten Nachwuchswissenschaftlern/innen an Lindauer Nobelpreisträgertagungen für Physik sowie den interdisziplinären Tagungen. Die sog. „Heraeus-Fellows“ werden von Hochschulen und Forschungsinstituten vorgeschlagen und von einer aus Physikprofessoren bestehenden Jury ausgewählt; Selbstbewerbung ist nicht möglich.
