Research Focus
- Plant-herbivore interactionsUsing several model systems, I study interactions between plants and herbivores. Model organisms currently include grasshoppers, Chrysomelid beetles, and vertebrate herbivores.
- Experimental Biodiversity ResearchI study effects of changes in plant diversity on differen organism groups and ecosystem processes in grassland, arable land and forest ecosystems. Further, I experimentally manipulate biodiversity at different levels of ecosystem organization; the main aim is to characterize structure and functioning of systems differing in biodiversity.
- Food webs, trophic and non-trophic interactionsI study different types of ecological networks, such as plant-pollinator and host-parasitoid networks, but also trophic and non-trophic interactions and omnivory in ecosystems.
- Global change researchI study effects of global change, such as climatic changes, on organisms, biotic interactions, ecosystems, and ecosystem processes.
- Statistical modellingI use a range of parametric linear and nonlinear statistical models for data analysis. Recent developments include analysis of complex spatiotemporal datasets and next-generation sequencing data.
