Konferenzbericht (Zeitschrift) | Peer reviewedThe 47th annual meeting of the “Arbeitsgemeinschaft Dermatologische Forschung” was held virtually from 4 March to 6 March 2021 after it had to be cancelled in the year before due to the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic. The local organizing committee from the Charité in Berlin resigned from organizing the annual meeting, which is now scheduled to take place in 2025. This year’s annual meeting was therefore organized by the ADF board members with energetic support from Elke Schmeckenbecher from the ADF office and Birgit Barnickel for sponsorships by industry and was held in a fully virtual format. With more than 700 participants, this year’s ADF meeting was by far the largest annual meeting so far, reflecting the easy accessibility of virtual conferences and interest in the ADF. Although lacking in person contacts, the ADF was very pleased with the scientific excellence, the well-balanced mixture of established researchers and aspiring new talents and the overall popularity of this conference. As usual, the ADF started with virtual Working Group Meetings providing interesting talks and networking opportunities. The traditional workshop on the first day of the meeting had to be cancelled, so the main program started right after the opening video and greetings by Evelyn Gaffal (Magdeburg) (Figure 1A). The established program structure of the meeting was also in place with the virtual format and, consequently, there were no parallel sessions. The ADF annual conference featured five major lectures, which were embedded into presentations of the 25 best research projects selected from the submitted abstracts in a blinded peer-review process. We would like to thank the 21 reviewers for their contributions to guarantee short talks from renown and young scientists with high quality.
